Why study this course

This one-day course teaches how to use Power BI Desktop to import and shape data from a variety of sources. It also walks through the Power BI capabilities you can use to enhance the data model for your business users. The course covers key aspects of how to create a great data model to meet your business needs, various features in Power BI used to enhance data models so you can build great reports, and an introduction to DAX to create calculations.

Important note: Power BI is a Microsoft App that is not currently supported on non-Windows systems (such as Apple Mac).

Prerequisites

Dashboard in a Day (DIAD) training or equivalent working experience.

In order to attend this course you must have Power BI Desktop installed on your local desktop or laptop prior to attendance. Download Power BI Desktop from Microsoft here. Power BI accessed through a browser or Microsoft Teams does not have the features and functionality needed to complete this course. Remote connection to your work desktop or laptop is also not suitable.

In addition you will need to be able to extract compressed (ZIP) files to your desktop or laptop.

We recommend dual monitors, especially if your primary monitor is a laptop screen.
