How do you become a certified project manager in Australia?

Becoming a project manager in Australia typically requires tertiary qualifications in project management or a related field. Industry certifications, such as the AIPM's RegPM™, are also highly valued by employers. The process of obtaining your RegPM™ certification involves a six-month course.
 
Step 1: To become an AIPM-certified project manager, you must first become a member of AIPM. This membership is exclusive, and credentials are awarded only to members. You can be a member but do not have to be certified.

Step 2: Next, work on gaining your first fundamental project management certification. Certifications show employers your skills are broad and up-to-date.

Step 3: From there, you complete a more advanced industry-recognised certification course. With Lumify Work, you can explore combined fundamentals and advanced Project Management courses such as:

• Foundation course: Project Management for Practitioners – Essential Skills Program (5 days, 20 CPDs)

• Agile Project Management Foundation and Practitioner (5 days, 20 CPDs)

Step 4: Register for national accreditation with the AIPM. Like certifications, accreditation demonstrates your readiness for project management roles. This step involves contacting and working with an approved assessor. You can find an approved assessor via the AIPM website.

Step 5: To keep your certification current, you must undertake continuous professional development (CPD) within these three years and accrue 70 CPD points. Apart from renewing your certifications, you can undertake CPD activities. These activities include:
